If you are a foreigner and you wish to learn Serbian plus to find out more about Serbia and its culture, the educational center Bejza is the right place for you.

Our study program is unique since it involves not only the languages studying but also provides information about some important segments of the Serbian culture and lifestyle.

The modern course for learning Serbian as a foreign language guarantees successful and quick learning of the language at any level.

Multimedia classrooms significantly faciliate teaching activites, student-teacher and student-student communication. The teaching activites include active utilization of four language learning skills ( reading, writing, listening and conversation), the conditions for which are provided in computer furnished classrooms.

BEGINNERS COURSE - Level 1

At Level 1 of the Beginners course, students are introduced to the elementary grammatical constructions and the structure of the Serbian language. At this level, the student learns reading and writing skills, and begins to use simple sentences. The Present tense is learned, while the gender of nouns and pronouns is also studied in much detail. By using the four cases (nominative, genitive, accusative and locative), and knowing how to use nouns and pronouns and the Present Tense, the students are already able to communicate in everyday situations which are not too demanding in view of terminology. Great attention in classes is paid to conversation, so that our students are prepared from the very beginning how to manage in different situations: how to introduce and present themselves, when going shopping (at the bakery, at the green market, in the fast food store, at a restaurant/café), when making telephone calls and alike. Students at this level can understand short questions regarding the above-mentioned situations, and they can express themselves using simple constructions about these topics.

BEGINNERS COURSE - Level 2

At Level 2, the use of cases in Serbian language is studied in more detail, adjectives are learned as well as modal verbs, prepositions, ordinal numbers, cases, and the students are introduced also to the aspect of verbs in Serbian. Upon the completion of this level, the student is able to describe, using short sentences, his/her daily habits, he/she can speak about clothes, TV programme, family, house objects and their arrangement. The student will also learn the terminology related to: the exchage office transactions, going to the hairdresser's, telling the time, different foodstuffs, describing the people and their constitution, etc.

BEGINNERS COURSE - Level 3

By the completion of Level 3, the students will have learned all cases, which makes the conversation and understanding of Serbian much easier. Having learned the simple tenses (Present Tense, Past Tense, Future Tense), they can express their feelings and opinions on various topics. Since the emphasis is placed on the practical usage of the language, after the completion of this level, our students are able to converse in the following situations:

1. at the post office
2. at the customs office
3. in a hotel
4. in a tourist agency
5. at the doctor's
6. in a taxi and when calling a taxi
7. on a trip
8. at the airport, bus and railway station

The students are able to speak about various topics, read short newspaper articles, announcements, they can describe different events regarding the past, the present and the future, they are able to give orders and requests (using the imperative). In short, they are able to express, within the studied grammar points and vocabulary, their feelings, thoughts and wishes regarding the topics they are familiar with.
